The full-day tour is based out of Punta Arenas and is a perfect fit for any traveler who wants to get the most authentic Patagonia experience. You will be picked up in a private vehicle and drive 60km South of the city of Punta Arenas to the Strait of Magellan Historic Park. You will first visit the milestone marking the geographic half-way point of Chile before entering the beautiful Park where the historic Fort Bulnes is located. Fort Bulnes is the first Chilean settlement in the southernmost area of the world established in 1840. The open aired park includes hiking trails, viewpoints of the Strait of Magellan, Tierra del Fuego and the Darwin Mountain Range, an interactive visitor center and museum, and abundant native plant and animal life.
On your return to Punta Arenas you will be taken on a city tour, visiting important monuments, the main plaza (plaza de armas) and the city’s best viewpoint. During this part of the tour there are opportunities to buy traditional souvenirs. After the city tour you will drive 33km north to enjoy the second half of day in a traditional Patagonia barbecue (asado). Upon arrival at the estancia you will receive a Calafate Sour cocktail, appetizers with king crab, and then enjoy a meal of roasted Magallanes lamb which has been slow roasting for over 5 hours. To liven up the meal, a group of regional musician and dancers will perform, and then give the passengers the opportunity to learn the basic steps of these traditional dances. After enjoying the afternoon at the estancia, you will be returned to Punta Arenas where the Magellanic adventure began.
